~ Your Face Has Muscles Too ~
And they may be working harder than you realise.
And they may be working harder than you realise.
You think about your body. Sore shoulders. Tight hips. An aching back.
You stretch them. Massage them. Give them a rest.
But when was the last time you thought about the muscles in your face?
There are more than 40 muscles in and around your face. And while you're probably not giving them much thought, they're busy all day long.
You..
Smile. Talk. Chew. Blink. Squint. Frown. Laugh. Yawn. Kiss.
Some of these muscles are tiny and delicate. Others are surprisingly powerful. Together, they allow us to create the incredible range of expressions that make our faces so... us.
The frontalis lifts your eyebrows. The orbicularis oculi closes your eyes and joins in when you smile. Around the glabella - that little space between your eyebrows - muscles including the corrugator supercilii and procerus help you frown and squint. And down at the jaw, the masseter works every time you bite and chew.
You don't need to remember any of those names.
The interesting part is how much they're doing without you thinking about them at all..
Before you keep reading, take a deep breath and notice your face exactly as it is.
Are your teeth touching?
Are you frowning slightly?
Are your eyebrows raised?
Are your shoulders creeping towards your ears?
Now breathe out.
Let your jaw soften.
Relax the space between your eyebrows.
Let your forehead go.
Drop your shoulders.
Did anything change?
Sometimes you don't notice tension until you let it go.
Perhaps that's what makes facial massage feel so good. It's an area of the body we rarely think about, yet we use it constantly.
Kobido gives all those busy little muscles some attention, while you get to switch off for a while too.
